The refurbishment of the Chemistry Building is being carried out in stages – different parts of the building are renovated in different phases to minimize the impact on operations.
The following major works are taking place in the Chemistry Building during autumn 2025:
Research Building 1
Work is underway on Floor 1 on the new entrance facing the Vasa area, including a new elevator and a new central room for handling hazardous waste.
Work is underway on Floor 8 to create new office environments.
Work is underway on Floor 10 where a former lecture hall is being converted into a thesis defense room for the departments.
In addition, local work is being carried out within the divisions.
Course Building
Work is underway on Floor 5 on new course laboratories for basic education and a meeting hub for the departments.
